I am interested in looking for the overlooked. This can take the form of stories, memories, working processes, atmosphere, sounds, traces that are an intrinsic part of a place but not always visible. My work focuses on small worlds that communicate complex, family based issues. The work often shows small fragments of a bigger story – a sense of intrigue by not quite exposing the full extent of the situation or story. Each of my projects has used locations that resonate with particular emotions.

My practice is in film and video and my interest is in representing place and personal memory through narrative. I am also interested in stories about women and exploring notions of a feminist aesthetic in film and how this might be identified in both form and content. My work sits in a place between narrative film and artists film and is distributed by the British Council to film festivals.

Recent work includes participating in an AHRC Landscape and Environment Network Project ‘Living in a Material World’. A cross - disciplinary research project investigating place, space and emptiness. The aim was to explore, through both visual arts and academic practices, how landscapes and environments are remembered /forgotten and to consider what emptiness might mean in locations like these, which are seen as transitory, forlorn, abandoned or unmarked places.
