Dr Bill Prosser

Dr Bill Prosser has made drawings all his life, first as an illustrator with clients ranging from The Times to New Society, Island Records to American Express.

During the last ten years this organised career has disintegrated into drawings of Mickey Mouse, corners of a room, corkscrews, Samuel Beckett’s doodles, and humdrum knick-knacks of an Oxford college.

Bill’s work has been exhibited internationally and he has held a number of research positions, including Andrew W. Mellon Research Fellow at the Harry Ransom Center, University of Texas, and a fellowship at the University of Oxford.

As a Leverhulme Senior Research Fellow at the University of Reading he undertook the project ‘Beckett and the Phenomenology of Doodles: a Visual and Theoretical Analysis.’

Bill has written a wide range of papers for journals and books and recently contributed a chapter to the book Debatable Lands, Volume II, Wild conversations Press, edited by Dr Iain Biggs.
