SOPA/PIPA protest day.

Many major websites are blacking out today, 18th Jan 2012, in solidarity with Wikipedia, who are directly opposed to the SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) bill in the US House of Representatives, along with its "sister" US Senate PIPA (Protect IP Act) bill.
Whilst we're not exactly minded to bring down the DIxD website in sympathy, this post has been published to highlight an issue that's worth considering if you are a web user who regularly posts content online. IS that content ABSOLUTELY yours? Do you have the right to share that photograph, advertisement, piece of music, extract from a book?
We make no judgement here - it's down to you to furnish yourself with the facts and adopt an appropriate stance. What IS for sure though is that if these bills are adopted into legislation, the "worldwide" web will be massively affected.
It affects you - read about it, discuss it, write about it.

You'll find an interesting discussion on SOPA/PIPA by Jason Harvey here.
